Defence Digital Project Delivery Professionalisation: Planning and Risk Graduate Programme

Context:

What we did:

  • Set out the Target Operating Model / Blueprint

  • Created a comprehensive Risk Management Curriculum, co-ordinated with Planning curriculum to maximise coherence

  • Created ~40 hours of Risk Management training material, taking participants from broad “Risk Introduction” to advanced topics of “Quantitative Risk Analysis” and “Risk Culture”

  • The training courses set out generic theory, and application within the context of Defence Digital. The content covered RM1 and RM2 topics

  • Created practical exercises and simulations to enable practice and learning

  • Piloted the delivery of the courses

  • Crafted job adverts that made the Programme stand out and attracted an abundance of candidates

Results / Benefits:

  • The Operating Model is now established and the Programme is repeatable for future cohorts

  • The 1st cohort ran very successfully with professional qualification pass rates in the high 90%s

  • The training materials are an asset that can be used for future cohorts

  • The training materials have been scaled to an online learning platform (Defence Learning Environment) for broader access and learning

  • The 1st cohort were effectively adding value in risk roles within a short period, with significant savings on Contractor support
